Its been a month since we had that good frost on the 13th of May and its time to see how things are. The fruit set is well underway and it looks at this time as if the frost damage is minor. The earliest bloomers such as Zestar and Snow Sweet seem to have the most damage and even then, its not as bad as I thought it might be. Every year things are different and thats one of the things that I enjoy the most. Over the years you can get pretty good idea of how things happen in the orchard, but its never exactly the same. This year, bug pressure is alittle higher than in past years, but scab pressure is down. So, in the end, it all balances out. As of today, the fruit set looks good and if it continues, I think we will have a good crop. I'll keep you posted!
