The time has come and the apples are ready! The weather last weekend put alittle damper on things but overall we had a good opener. People forget from year to year that we start picking apples around the time of the State Fair. Some varieties actually are ready in July, but we chose not to plant them. It seem a bit too early to be picking apples when its 90 outside. The crop we have this year looks pretty good. Currently we have State Fair, Beacon and Zestar available. In the next few weeks we will have Hazen, Sweet Sixteen and Honey Crisp. After that, we will wind down the season with Snow Sweet and Haralson. For the most part, the apples did well this year. As with most years, we lost some trees to the weather, mostly the wind. But we have enough planted to make sure that we have a good supply when fall rolls around. Keep an eye on the website as fall progresses and I'll be sure to let you know whats coming!

The time is almost here again. The apples are putting on weight as we speak. As of right now, the varieties that we will have the most of this fall are: State Fair, Haralson, Sweet Sixteen and Honey Crisp. There will also be lesser amounts of at least 5 or 6 other varieties too. The summer started out good, but the lack of rain is catching up and we need a good soaking. Keep your eyes here and in about 3 weeks we should start picking with State Fair being first on the list. If you want apples to can or freeze, these are just the ones to have. They have just alittle tart to them and they are without a doubt one of my favorites. I'll keep you posted as we get closer to the time!
